We have certainly done some major trips, but there is also a significant advantage to having a Sprinter van on the ready, namely the ability to make a last minute decision to hang out in a different setting, for a meal, for the day, or overnight. And there are plenty of venues near us that we take advantage of quite often. Here is an example of just one of them.
Just a 30-minute drive from our condo in the center of downtown delivers us from sea-level up to the solitude of Grant Ranch Park, in the Diablo Range, just below Mount Hamilton...
...where there are roughly 30 miles of scenic trails between the elevations of 1400' to 3000'.
There is also plenty of wildlife.
However, some of the locals seem a bit jittery in the lead-up to Thanksgiving!
We are blessed to have flexible schedules, so it is also great that we often have the park virtually to ourselves, in the campground and on the trails.
